Height/Weight: 5’ 10”, 180 lbs.
Appearance: Possessed of a blue-eyed magnetism and clarion-like baritone voice, Sir Mendigan has a mass of thick dirty auburn locks and a chiseled face marked by hard stoicism but oft softened by the warmth of humor.
Personality: Although strong of character and urbane, he is also vain and arrogant and sometimes finds comfort in strong drink where prayers go unanswered.
History: Sir Mendigan Whyte, son of Tivar White, Baron of Iraebor, ascended to knighthood status upon taking vows and passing a test before the chaplain of his household's shrine to Helm. Proving his valor and mettle in jousts and contests, he led many sorties of cavalcades against bandits threatening the roads in the immediate vicinity of his lord's city, and was once pressed in real combat against inhuman mercenaries with true designs and tactics on the trade that passed along the great road.
The skirmish against the hobgoblins met a stalemate with many dying on both sides. A truce was reached and both sides withdrew. Those rivals within his household began working to erode the confidence of Mendigan's father and succeeded in ultimately reprimanding Sir Mendigan for failure. As a result, he was sent to the coast and regions north and south to atone for his failure.
On his questing, aiding those in need and fighting on behalf of the downtrodden and impoverished, Mendigan found his faith faltering. Most of all, he sought the validation of his god. But everywhere he went, and each temple to which he tithed and prayed, he received no answer from his patron. The doubt within him grew even though his vows never wavered.
He was given the name of a high priest of Helm at Candlekeep who was said to possess what he sought. So, Sir Mendigan rode far and long alone. But he was waylaid...
