Today Nightflare had been assigned to go hunt deer, by her ever so merciful mentor had told her to do. Of course, Nightflare never really listened to what her mentor said in terms of advice, as she was much older then her superior, and knew pretty much everything he talked about. As much as the devious demon wished to be doing something else, she needed to regain her king's trust. He had promoted pretty much all of the former advisers except herself, do to distrust. Because she had been able to manipulate her cousin, do to their 'bond', Night had been able to get away with all her shinanigans in the past. Now, that was unacceptable. She would need to prove her worth in order to get promoted. And the first step was obeying everything her king/mentor told her to do.
As she walked through the brush, she flicked her tongue out, tasting the air. She decided to use her abilities of sense-enhancing to heighten her sense of smell, sniffing the air. On the wind, she quickly picked up the scent of a herd of deer. She smirked in triumph, and rushed towards them. Once she arrived, she made quick work of all of them, scooping them up into a pile, and carefully placing them in a pile, big enough to feed two adult NightWings, maybe more. She smiled proudly at her catch, and decided now was about time she started searching for more food. She turned off her sense-enhancing powers. She felt a sharp pain in her nose, and growled slightly. That would be an unpleasant inconvenience, but oh well. She went back to hunting.
It took about five hours before she has amassed an acceptable amount of prey. There it sat, five piles of delicious prey, each half the size of herself, so about thirty feet tall. She smirked proudly at her treasure, and decided to use shadow magic to transport it over to the kitchen - a new area Oculus had set up -, which wasn't very far away, thankfully. A few dragons looked surprised at her suddenly arrival, but when they saw what she had brought with her, they quickly scooped the meat up and threw it in the freezer. They thanked her for her work as a tracker, and she replied quickly with a 'oh, I'm just doing my job', before she casually walked out of the kitchen. She decided it was about time she do some serious training, and rushed over to the brawling ring. But first she used her transportation magic to teleport her armor, and started practicing with fighting. Her speed was unmatched, and surprised many younger trainees. What they didn't know was that this armor was no ordinary set of armor. It held a simple enchantment on it to make it lighter. She would dodge, leap, and crawl with enhanced agility manuevering abilities.
Once she was done with training, she returned, once again, to her cave. It was still in construction, as she had left her former cave behind. This was a problem. Why? Because there was an item of immense power hidden there. So powerful even she couldn't wield it. No dragon could wield it, except for Full Gods. But.... if someone were to find it.... let's just say it wouldn't be pleasant.
After some study, it was now nearly midnight. Nightflare growled in annoyance as she looked out the window of her cave. (Yes, her cave has a window. Deal with it.) She needed to go somewhere. She placed her book down, and used teleportation magic once again to take her to her desired location. Now she was utterly exhausted from all the magic power she had used. But nonetheless, she needed to complete her task. She stood by the shore, watching the waves with a casual glint in her eye. She could hear the soft sound of water brushing against the rocks as she gazed across the dark ocean. Where was she heading? Why, to Shadow's Refuge, of course! She often went there to study, and help Tenebris out with whatever it was he needed done. With Night's teleportation abilities, it was easy for her to get from place to place. Let me rephrase that. Get THINGS from place to place. This would make her an excellent messenger, and that was exactly what she was training for.
And so she started her quest, soaring across the ocean, her body growing weak and weary. Once she arrived at Shadow's Refuge, she stayed the night there, studying and practicing. After that she decided to return home. But she needed to replenish her magic abilities, so she stayed for another week, before using her magic abilities to shadow travel back to her home.
(For all the IceWings who read through this, this is an example of a solo mission. This was a simple mission, for Nightflare has been assigned no specific mission by Oculus.)
