A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Baldirak Sapiens Draco on Thu Feb 15, 2018 2:17 pm

The Twilight King sat just outside his den, his pale gaze on the night sky. In the morning he would gather the Survivors and reveal his plan for dealing with the monsters. For once, finally, if all went well, Dragonkind would begin fighting back. No longer would the once rising empire of Fire, Darkness, and Earth cower. No longer would its leaders wallow in their anger, their sorrow, their depression. And if Baldirak could manage it, no longer would Dragonkind be divided. It was his wish that all species come together to take back their lands. Perhaps it was a foolish dream, for even past alliances of two or three had failed, and never had all seven clans been united. The EarthWing closed his pale eyes. How odd it would be to speak of unity when--since just after the monsters' attack--there existed only one leader. The Gifted Crystals never had a leader to begin with; last he heard, the Starlights' SkyWing King and Queen disappeared; Tenebris was locked up in Shadows Refuge, his concern on becoming a saviour to all Dragonkind by allowing everyone to come to the Ebonwing Isles; Kenina was still too depressed, only just recently allowing her mate to hear her speak for the first time since the invasion. This left only Baldirak for his kin to turn to. His only ally were the ElderWings and they still had not yet uncovered the past of these monsters.

Baldirak opened his eyes again and stood, turning round to make his way back inside his den. For the first time in too long, he was aware of the talismans around his neck. He looked down at them. In his den, in the center, was a circle of Moonstones. Ten in all. Seven were white and three were purple. They glowed brightly now, a hole in the ceiling having allowed them to absorb the maximum amount of moonlight. How he could possibly still believe in the gods, especially the one who--if they even existed--was most expected to aid the besieged and dying, was a complete mystery to everyone. Being a Prophet, a King, even a Demi-god, did not exempt Baldirak from rumor. But he did not care what others thought. If he had but one admirable quality, it was his loyalty. Nothing could make his belief waiver. The EarthWing stepped through the circle and went to the back of the den where he slept. He would not meditate within the Circle of Knowledge tonight.

The sun broke through the fog that typically surrounded the island the Twilight King dwelled on. He was already awake and eating a giant pile of spaz fish fit for an EarthWing. Once he was finished, Baldirak took flight, making his way to the main island of the Ebonwing Isles where the meeting was to be held. He knew his nephew would be there. The Thunderbird, Tormaigh, was likely to attend as well. Beyond that he wasn't expecting to see any familiar faces. Recently, some before-thought dead FireWings had surfaced, so he hoped they would show up.

Baldirak landed on the main island and walked to the meeting spot. His right foreleg, for once, wasn't hurting enough to cause a limp, but that would soon change. For now, the King was glad of the lessened pain. There was a bit of raised ground that Baldirak would sit on--not that a 140ft EarthWing needed to be raised up. Here he waited, surrounded by rocks and trees. Vilkas, Baldirak's nephew, arrived five minutes later and sat nearby. They spoke for a brief time, mostly inquiring about how the other was doing. The half-FireWing wondered about his uncle's various injuries and asked about the Queen. Baldirak asked about Vilkas' training. And then they fell silent while they waited.

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Tormaigh on Thu Feb 15, 2018 4:05 pm

Tormaigh watched at watery coastline, keeping a constant lookout for anyone, or anything that may come. It had been rough, but at times surprising, what had been happening. He knew Baldirak would have a plan at some point, and now it seemed that he was ready to teviel it to everyone.

The massive lead and his nephew quickly caught the thunderbird’s eye, and he few out to tell everyone. Once he was sure everyone had heard, he flew himself to the meeting place to find the king waiting there, and his nephew close.

”You’re Highness, Vilkas. It is a pleasure to see you both again. How is her majesty, it I may ask?”

At the same time, a two headed pair of twins made their way to the meeting area. Cyclone and Typhoon hoped their mom wouldn’t mind them going. They had never met a king, and just wanted to see him. The Moonstone around each twin’s neck gave off a light glow, red for Cyclone’s, and purple for Typhoon’s. When they made the were in awe at the sheer size of Baldirak, and quickly ran up to see, practically ignoring the thunderbird standing there.

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Baldirak Sapiens Draco on Thu Feb 15, 2018 9:01 pm

Vilkas noticed the Thunderbird first, for the King had his eyes closed. He watched as the bird landed and greeted them--at which point Baldirak was pulled back into the present. "Hello, Tormaigh." Vilkas said with a slight lift of his right wing.

"Tormaigh, it's good to see you," the Twilight King chimed in. "Kenina is... recovering still. I've not had the opportunity to speak with her in some time.
Though I'm not sure she would see me if I had."
A light caught Balidrak's eye. He looked down and saw two Moonstones, one purple and one red. Both hung around the neck of a Hatchling; that Hatchling was a hydra. The King had not seen these Hatchlings before. In fact, he didn't know any Hatchlings had survived the invasion. But it was a welcome site. Now how had these two come across that red Moonstone? Baldirak lowered his head down to better see the two NightWings. "Greetings, Young Ones. I am glad to see we still have some Hatchlings among us. And you possess Moonstones." The Prophet of Knowledge couldn't help but wonder if this was a sign from the Goddess of the Moon and Stars. Perhaps she did still exist and was listening to her prophet's prayers. "What are your names?"

Tormaigh bowed his head a bit at hearing of Kenina’s state. He was about to say something when he noticed Baldirak look at something on the ground. He turned his gaze downward to see the twin hydras. He had noticed them a few times as he flew to and from scouting locations, but and never seen them up close. Even more surprising was what the king pointed out. The Moonstones.

The pair looked up happily at the king, liking that he noticed their Moonstones. They thought back to when their Otōsan gave each their Moonstone. Cyclone spoke up quickly when he noted the Moonstones.

”Yeah. Our Otōsan gave them to use.” Baldirak then asked them their names. He actually wanted to know their names! Both beamed as they spoke up.

”I’m Cyclone.”

”And I’m Typhoon.”

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Ragnarock on Mon Feb 19, 2018 10:24 pm

It had been a long recovery from what injuries the Royal Guard possessed, but a short time till he decided to go back to his line of duty: guarding the king. With the recent attacks, and his suspicions of the Night Kin, he was more reactive to everything that might pose a threat to the Earth King Baldirak. And as a Royal Guard, he would be there to defend the king. His life did not matter he thought, the kings and the Imperium did, and so the dragon trecked onward in his remaining years serving the royalty of the Earth Kin as a means to atone for his past sins, those of which happened long before any of these dragons were alive.

Ragnarock, still tired and recovering, strided along a path that lead to the meeting place. He wasn't surprised at the amount of dragons that made it out of the Imperium but was surprised at the amount of Earth Kin that hadn't made it out. Sure, Earth Dragons were versatile however there should have more than what was within the isles. Perhaps the Royal Guard underestimated the amount of creatures in the initial invasion.

The Royal Guard arrived at the meeting place, seeing the King upon a mound of sorts as he would describe. Ragnarock simply went to the King's side as he usually did in the Imperium, remaining silent. It seemed... off to him, the area that had been chosen, or rather the small amount of dragons that appeared. It didn't come to a surprise that Ragnarock seen the Queen missing, of course she was, it must have been traumatic to see your very lives fall before you. And of course Tenebris was missing, he assumed the Night King was concocting some master plan from his locked room. Its no excuse for either of them, the guard thought, for them to not appear before their subjects as they should.

"Damn It All..." Ragnarock muttered to himself, clenching his fists, the sharp blade-like nails cutting, digging into his palms and drawing blood. It angered him so that two royal leaders of a single alliance were cowering or wallowing in their chambers, to him they should have been dragged out of there, their subjects Needed their leaders more than ever, they couldn't remain in one spot, and that's what Ragnarock assumed Baldirak was going to do. Come up with a plan and follow through with it. And all the Royal Guard could do was wait. Wait for the day they take the fight to the invaders.

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Baldirak Sapiens Draco on Thu Feb 22, 2018 12:03 am

Baldirak, for the first time since the Fall, was--if only mildly--happy. To see these two Hatchlings brought him joy. "Cyclone and Typhoon. It is good to meet you." The King gave a draconic smile. He was going to say more when he heard a pair of wings on the air and looked up to see his Royal Guard, Ragnarock. The 20ft taller EarthWing landed and sat off to the left side of Baldirak, just behind him. It wasn't long before the older Dragon was muttering to himself. And then the King smelled blood. He glanced down to see the Guard clenching his palm.

With a stamp of his left forepaw, Baldirak commanded the earth beneath him to rise, and so it did, 20 feet. Now that he was at eye level with Ragnarock, the King's pale eyes narrowed slightly. He was well aware of Ragnarock's anger toward the Queen and Tenebris.  In turn, it angered--no, that was a bit strong for Baldirak. Irritated, perhaps--him. Such feelings toward the NightWing leader was understandable--Tenebris was often away and it was no secret his own interests came first in everything he did. But his mate? What really had she done to earn the old EarthWing's anger?

Was it that the Guard didn't understand just how deeply Kenina had been affected? Or did he and just didn't care? Or perhaps it had nothing to do with Kenina and Tenebris at all; maybe he was just tired of living in forced exile, hiding from otherworldly creatures. Everyone was. The King shook his head. He had had his fair share of anger, and to a far greater level than what Ragnarock displayed. Still, that anger had never been toward his own kind, to an ally or a friend.

Baldirak had not been aware--until just this moment--that he had been growling at his Guard. It was a very deep, low growl that was nearly imperceptible--except for the trembling of the earth. It was that trembling that alerted him to it, because his right forepaw began hurting more than usual. He stopped. He sighed and shifted slightly on his paws. "Do not be so hard on them." was all he said before lowering the mound of earth back down. After a moment of thought, he added, "And I know you are the only remaining Royal Guard, that as such your duty is to me first and foremost as the... most active between Kenina and I. But I would appreciate it if you would stay with her sometimes. I hate to leave her alone in general during this dangerous time, but especially with her in her current state."

The King turned back around to face Tormaigh and Cyclone and Typhoon. "Now what brings you two here?" he asked of the twins.

Vilkas moved to sit beside Ragnarock after his uncle had turned his attention back to the others. "Uncle is just under some stress. He hasn't been sleeping very well." Vilkas said in defense of his uncle's growling. "But I don't blame you. He lost just as much that day, but he's been able to do what we need of him. Still, I guess it's not fair to expect everyone to handle something the same way as everyone else." The spiky youth lifted his wings in a shrug. "Anyway, one is better than nothing."

Tulvir II saw the Thunderbird fly overhead toward the meeting place. The FireWing-IceWing hybrid turned and walked in that direction. The Thunderbird hadn't told him about the meeting--Tulvir had heard about it earlier from Vilkas. Until a few minutes ago, he had decided not to attend. What was the point? Even if the King were planning to do something about the remnants' current situation, there was hardly anyone left to carry it out. As mighty as the EarthWing leader was, he couldn't take on the monster horde himself. But then he decided, what harm could it do? If nothing else, this meeting would give the Guardian something to do for a while. And if there was no plan, well, they wouldn't be any worse off.

Tulvir reached the area to find a small group. The Thunderbird, two NightWing Hatchlings, a Royal Guard--judging by his position close to the King--and Vilkas. It didn't surprise him that he was the only FireWing in attendance. Tulvir approached and bowed to the King before sitting behind the Hatchlings.

The twins smiled and looked up at Baldirak, just happy to meet a king. Cyclone began to open her maw, but she was surprisingly nervous.

”Well... we’ve never... we’ve never met a king before, so we wanted to meet you.”

”Yep,” Typhoon added with a nod of his head.

While this happened, Tormaigh moved closer to Vilkas and Ragnarock, giving a look somewhere between stern and curious.

”Vilkas is correct, Ragnarock. We have all been dealing with this tragedy in our own way. While it would be nice for her Majesty to be here, she seems to have been effected the most. At least outwardly. As for Tenebris....” The large falcon just sighed. ”To be honest, while I am not particularly fond of him, I wonder if we have delt with are emotions the same way.”

As Tormaigh spoke to the dragons, the twins looked up at the new dragon that had approached.

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Ragnarock on Mon Feb 26, 2018 1:28 pm

Ragnarock looked to the king, he understood the queens grief, there had be someone he was looking after killed in the initial attack. He understood that many have died and rather than have sorrow the Royal Guard had pure anger, and at any moment could become... a "little" unhinged. The growling the king made as he arose to eye level felt of sorts a challenge to the old guard, and Ragnarock, in his years, had not the hatred to attack anything out of anger. Until now. When the old guard was ready for an attack, anything offense that could be used for his own assault, the king sighed instead and spoke. This did not calm the dragon down, but he took understanding in what was happening.

The Royal Guard had never felt grievenc, nor did he try to. He never got close to anyone particularly because he was simply an old drago, and the Elder Wings was not his strong suit at all. He muscle, built for war, and never considered retirement nor backing down. Ragnarock simply acted as if he calmed, keeping the bottledup anger insude rather than release it to avoid conflict. He exhaled through the nostrils and released the hold on his palm.

"I understand." Was all Ragnarock said to both Baldirack and his demigod nephew Vilkas. However he ignored the third being that chimed in as he already had been told by two others, still, it didn't change his mind, just altered a few thoughts of Kenina, by very little. If his new objective was to guard her from time to time so be it, it was his duty to guard royalty after all, the Earth King mostly.

Baldirak practically ignored his nephew, his Guard, and Tormaigh after he had turned his attention back to the Hatchlings. It had not been lost to the King that Ragnarock had readied himself for a fight before and he would speak to the older Dragon later about that. For now, he gave a light nod to Typhoon and Cyclone then acknowledged the arrival of the FireWing. He raised his pale gaze to the sky; it was well into the morning now. If no more had arrived, this was likely all that would. It disappointed him greatly, but he could wait no longer with a growing air of impatience. It was getting harder for Baldirak to be sole leader, what with his Survivors demanding swift action aganist the monsters. They had lost their patience and no longer seemed to care that their King had to do everything himself, meaning he had to be more careful about when and where he made a move.

"I have put a great deal of thought into what we must be done. What few of us remain have put a great deal of stress on me. I know you've not meant it. I know you just want these monsters dead; to return home; to rebuild the Spire. I suppose I've learned all I've been able, waited as long as I can. I can wait no longer for a good plan or for my Queen to recover enough to aid me. It is not a good plan I have, but it is decent enough to work... if we have help. There has never been an alliance of seven. Today, we will remedy this. We will summon the leaders of the Light Sky and the Isle Daelorios and ask for their help. We will seek the Survivors of the Sea and Ice. We will extend refuge to the Rogues and offer them the chance to fight with us. And then... and then we will discuss a battle plan, Attor and Sirius and I. I promise it will not take long--it shouldn't with three of us again. And then we will wage war on the monsters. We will slaughter them as they slaughtered us, only there will not be even one of them left alive when we are finished."   Here, Baldirak finally paused.

Vilkas, who had moved around to sit beside the FireWing/IceWing  transformed. In his mutant for, he gave a war cry. Tulvir had listened silently to the King. At Vilkas' transformation, he jumped away, surprised more than anything. Regaining his composure, Tulvir spoke up, "Tulvir II, Guardian of the FireWing capital. With my IceWing heritage, I could stand being in their lands better than anyone gathered here. I will travel there and seek out the surviving IceWings."

His mutant voice being demon-like and deeper than his normal one, Vilkas chimed in, "I will find the Rogues."

Tormaigh, Cyclone, and Typhoon listened in awe as the ruler spoke. The massive falcon listen carefully as Baldirak spoke. Bring all the tribes together? And the rogues? This plan was crazy, but desperate times call for desperate measures. And right now, maybe the others would agree to this. To coming together to fight these beasts.

As Tormaigh thought of this, the twins jumped in fear at Vilkas’ transformation and roar. Once they realized what was going on, the pair calmed down and looked at each other. Their tail flicked back and forth as they spoke to one another in their own way, trying to decide what to do. It was then, after Tulvir and Vilkas spoke, that Tormaigh opened his beak.

”Your Highness, I may not be a dragon, but I would still be more than willing to help. That is, if you do not need me here.” As the thunderbird finished speaking, Cyclone and Typhoon raised their heads, and the dragoness of the two began to talk.

”Is there any way we can help?”

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by malaki on Fri Mar 02, 2018 5:23 pm

Malaki was overwhelmed with various emotions when he arrived to the isle with the rest of the survivors. For the most part he just existed. Lost in the shock of it all. Everything he knew and loved was gone. For the most part Malaki spent his time looking among the survivors for any evidence of his mother. But always he was greeted with sad eyes and a shake of a head. He was alone now.

While under normal circumstances Malaki would love spending time among foreign and alien tribes unknown to him. But as of late for the sake of peace of mind, he spent his time among other night wing survivors. It was familiar, the tribe, there culture, there way of thinking and talking. Tribal culture created a shield, a blanket of comfort. All the other new tribes were like a giant ocean wave that came to quickly and seemed kind of oppresive for him. It scared Malaki. He was not able to deal with the exposure at his own pace.  There culture, there way of thinking. It was all alien and at the moment very overwhelming, like his visions as of late.

When word traveled that a meeting open to the public was occurring Malaki could not help but seek it out. He was a night wing lost in the darkness, a funny, but ironic turn of events. He wanted to know what the king planned for his people. Be it present or future. King or not Malaki was very keenly aware the king was not of the tribe, not of the blood. He had his doubts that the king would have his peoples best interests at heart.

Malaki lurked among the shadows and trees near the meeting area as was his tribes way. They were the children of the moon and stars as the stories went. For the moment he did not speak, just listened from the shadows for as much information as he could. There were many others there and he took the time to absorb as much as he could.

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Maleboga on Sat Mar 03, 2018 4:02 pm

Since the downfall of the Empire, Malebogia was the same as always, albiet he kept more his drink closer. Being one of the very few Fire Wings present on the Isles he didn't really interact with the public... until now. Previously in the Imperium Malebogia had been doing some daily shopping before he went to the usual guardian patrol routes. A little drink is never unwelcome before the job, kinda helps him relax more granted he gets odd looks when drinking something only used on special occasions or ceremonies, but it helps him relax before a long days work.

As he was making his way down the crowded streets he heard a loud noise, similar to an explosion but closer to a crash, much like a massive landslide. He poked his head up over the dragons that seemed to talk about the noise and now paying attention to the direction this noise came from. At the time the Guardian had been in the Night Wing district to get some better drink, not that ****-water that they serve in the Fire Wing districts, and so he was facing a cave. (Making assumptions on the layout of the Imperium, considering how big it is and that there are caves here and there.)

Then that screeching noise, no, multiple of them emmited from that cave, and came the serpents, the arachnids, and gods know what else. The slaughter began as soon as possible, without a second heartbeat to drop, all were now in a panic and those who fought back were quickly cut down or devoured. Malebogia hadn't the time to act before a large sweeping tail knocked him unconscious, the last thing he heard were either terrified screams or enraged roars. It was like that third monkey fighting on Noah's ark, and boy, was it raining.

The Guardian had awoken far later in the dead of night, the dark sky shining its bright moon and starlights down, truly a magnificent sight. Perhaps he had simply pass out? Yes, another dragon, perhaps an angry merchant slipped some sort of poison in his drink and it was all hallucinations! But then why would he be laying on the ground? Maybe dragons just didn't care anymore?

Right as the dragon began to move a massive serpent of some kind slithered past his corpse. The guardian tried moving but was covered by a massive Earth Dragon. Just great! He used his strength to slowly lift the dragon and very gently slid out from under it, causing some noise but not enough to attract attention. After the guardian had rose his red eyes scanned the area, and thanks to the moonlight he could only see the features of unfamiliar creatures. He quickly flew upward, creatures chasing after him but too late to notice the fleeing dragon.

Malebogia would assume that perhaps this district was closed off from the others, so he flew over the entirety of the Imperium only seeing the streets flooded with these things. He was in disbelief, the entirety of the Empire was conquered! All Malebogia could do was fly away. It was too risky to search for survivors, and even if there was a stray they'd be overrun within moments. So the dragon flew away from the Imperium until he saw a small group of dragons on the ground, fending off against the horde of monsters they have encountered. Malebogia had rushed down to assist them, and after the small skirmish he trekked with the small group, escorted by another guardian until reaching the Ebon Isles.

So now here he is, a guardian whode survive the onslaught of the Imperium.

Already Malebogia had sat in the corner of the meeting this fine day, remaining hidden from the others... well perhaps just out of sight, and today marked the third day he hadn't a drink which was surprising with how much a drunk the guardian was. He had heard the king finish the speech, and then two dragons, Tulvir and Vilkas, claim to look for the Sea, Ice, and the Rogues. That left those Starlight **** and being half Ice, he was better suited for the Ice lands than jungles, however no one said anything about the Sea kin, so...

No way was he missing the opportunity for adventure! Malebogia quickly chimed in, "Aye, Melebogia; Guardian of the FireWing Capitol shall aid in the search the Sky kin."

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Baldirak Sapiens Draco on Mon Mar 05, 2018 12:43 am

The ElderWings would not sit idle during this dark time in the history of Dragonkind. Siris had already pledged their assistance to the Mainlanders and now they would make good on that promise. The Ilos of the ElderWings led a small group consisting of the GateKeeper, Durval; the blind Gazer, Bain; the Healil, Ullie; Mae, the Scribe; and the Hatchlings, Nyetai and Henri. Though the mainland was no place for Hatchlings right now, Henri was a Scribeil. It was important for him to learn all he could from Mae, as she was the only Scribe in the tribe. Nyetai had been allowed to come as well, only because she insisted in being with her best friend. Ullie was young but old enough to no longer be considered a Hatchling. Ullie's Seer, Laia, was confident that Ullie could handle herself and wished for her to travel with this group to the mainland, to study the many herbs that could only be found there. Bain's Birth Title was not necessary to this endeavor, but he was nevertheless a good Dragon to have wherever danger lurked. Durval, on the other paw, was just what the ElderWings' kin needed in terms of his Birth Title. The Tal, Siris had been told, were without a significant number of Guardians to defend their havens from the monsters. And so Daelorios' finest, the GateKeeper, was sent. As for Mae, it is her duty as Scribe to ensure that future generations will know how Dragonkind united against the Kreu.

Siris looked over his shoulder at his charges. Some had thought the Ilos should have taken the Tok-ael instead. The Tok-ael is a group of warriors--what the Mainlanders would call Guardians--that had been trained by Siris to harness a power the rest of the ElderWings no longer embraced. But Siris had not wanted to leave Daelorios protected only by its magic. Besides, one member, Durval, would be enough. "I will introduce everyone. There is little time to spare for lengthy formalities. Mae, you know already that you shall remain behind with Henri and Nyetai. Where the rest of you will go shall be decided by Baldirak." The Ebonwing isles were just below them now. They descended and made their way to the one upon which they would find the EarthWing.

During his speech, the King noted the arrival of two more: a NightWing and another FireWing. Their footsteps wreaked havoc on his own right forepaw. Neither tremors were ones Baldirak had felt before. Once Baldirak finished, Tulvir and Vilkas volunteered to find the IceWings and Rogues, respectively. He heard Tormaigh offer his services as well, but for nothing specifically. The two Hatchlings almost brought a draconic smile to the EarthWing. And then he heard the second FireWing volunteer to find the SkyWings and LightWings. The NightWing remained silent. Perhaps he, like Tormaigh, was simply going to allow the King to decide what his assignment would be. "Those who have spoken may pursue the tasks they have set for themselves. Tormaigh, I would like you to recruit any Lesser Species who would fight with us. Ragnarock, I take your silence to mean you shall remain here with Kenina. As for you, Cyclone and Typhoon, I have a very special task for you. I'd like you to guard my Moonstones."

The EarthWing's pale gaze settled on the trees nearby where the NightWing sat nearly hidden. "Child of Night, what is your name?"

Cyclone and Typhoon both gave Baldirak massive smiles as their tail swayed from side-to-side. The pair practically jumped with excitement as they ran around.

”We get to guard Moonstones?”

”Really?”

”This’ll be great!”

”Yeah! This is awesome!”

At the same time, Tormaigh gave the king a nod, and looked over all who stood there. Some more dragons had arrived, and, to be completely honest, it sometimes annoyed him that more non-dragon species didn’t help. He began to wonder if those who did come just didn’t care, though he could not necessarily blame them. The thunderbird then looked at his king again.

”As you wish, your Highness. I will focus on Rogue and Earthwing territory. As they were free before this, the non-dragons there should be the most willing to help.”

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by malaki on Thu Mar 08, 2018 7:38 pm

Malaki had hoped to see his tribes archon present at the meeting, but after scanning those attending, he was left wanting. Still, there was a familiar face there, Tulvir. In his mind the night wing was sure that his tribes leader was off on important business. Malaki's thoughts did not linger on it though as he arrived in the middle of a speech being spoken from a dragon on a rock, the leader of the alliance no doubt.

Malaki had to admit the earth wing king was good with words. The speech had stirred the fire in his blood and the want to fight and reclaim his home. Once where he felt hopeless, now Malaki felt hope. He watched as Tulvir was quick to volunteer his assistance. It came as no surprise to Malaki. In his eyes if all the guardians were like Tulvir the monsters would not stand a chance.

One after another others offered aid including a thunderbird much to Malaki's surprise. He had never met one but read about them. Thinking back on the speech Malaki did have his doubts about one thing, the light wings. One thing he knew was that his people and there's did not like each other. He had never met a light wing but he knew that he was not suppose to like them. All among the tribe were raised on the stories of the “Sacrilege of the LightWings”,

He had wanted to voice that opinion about the ancestral hatred light and night wings had for each other, but he figured the king already knew about that and had some kind of plan. Malaki was about to sneak away as the rising dawn was chasing away the shadows but words were spoken that made him freeze, and not only because they were directed at him.

The night wing had heard those exact words before. "My name....." He muttered in memory. Like a puzzle piece falling into place and painting a picture he came to a sudden realization. 'What is the point of seeing glimpses of the future if I cant understand them until its to late. I would have never come here', he thought in dread. Malaki never liked to much attention as he was just as secretive as any other in his tribe.

Being called out publically by a king was a little to much attention for his liking. As much as he wanted to turn tail and flee Malaki reluctantly stood out of the trees. Of all the strangers here only one he knew, vaguely anyway. But still it was better then nothing. Resting a left fore claw forward the night wing put his chest low to the ground and extended his wings in a bow. "My name is Malaki your majesty". It was simple and short. Not something that would win him any awards, but it would do.

Malaki hoped that the king would notice he was just a regular citizen and lose interest in him. Being as discreet as he could Malaki whispered in Tulvir's direction. "My tail is tingling, help me out here." It was not that he saw any visions. He just did not like being in the spot light.

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Baldirak Sapiens Draco on Fri Mar 09, 2018 6:31 pm

The NightWing came forward and bowed to the Twilight King before answering the question. Baldirak could tell he was nervous. Though he did not usually, Baldirak decided to use his ability. The King could see the past and future of the very world and its inhabitants. What he saw used to be limited, mere fragments all he could see. But since becoming a demi-god, he saw much more. He wanted to know what made Malaki so nervous, and perhaps find out why he wore those strange things over his eyes.

Baldirak buried the claws of all four paws into the earth. This was the only way his ability would activate. After, his pale blue eyes changed to a darker shade. Baldirak could see a young NightWing, then a more present version standing in a swamp. He saw Malaki in a sort of trance, not unlike the one the King was in now... Just without the muttering and swaying.

The Twilight King removed his claws from the earth. His eyes paled to their normal shade. He slumped forward slightly, as if he had been holding in a breath too long and was finally forced to release it. "Malaki. A seer of time. What is your rank?"

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by malaki on Fri Mar 09, 2018 10:03 pm

Malaki had stopped bowing at this time and noticed that the king was starting to bury all his fore claws in the earth. It was a bit strange in his eyes at first, but he came to assume it was one probably a weird quirk of earth wings. He knew that many of the things his tribe did was seen as strange to outsiders.

Curious as to what the king was thinking Malaki looked for any physical tells. There did not appear to be any on the kings body. But after looking at his face and the shift of color in the kings eyes from pale blue to a darker shade, the night wing suddenly became alarmed.

He took a few steps backwards in silent debate with himself if he should flee or not. But upon seeing the kings eyes return to normal and hearing the spoken words the night wing stopped in his tracks. "A seer of time?" He repeated, but more stated as a question. This was exactly not what he wanted and did what he always did, joked about it.

"Oh sure, I'm a seer. That's why I have spent my life training to be a healer instead of living the good life somewhere doing claw readings and giving prophecy's to those who can afford it." Forcing a laugh he gave a curt bow. "I am flattered you think me a seer your majesty. But I am a nobody, just a citizen trying to get by." With that said and even more desperate to get attention off of himself, Malaki decided to ask a question he wanted to before.

"I have great faith in you my king. But as a citizen of the night I do have some concerns I wish to address, and hopefully be given some peace of mind on the matter. Are light wings to join us here? Our two tribes have never really been known to play well with each other."

Feeling confident the question would distract the king from the whole seer thing he could not help but think, 'How did he know what I was? Can the king see things as well?'

Baldirak found it curios that Malaki chose to deny his ability. Yet, it was understandable. Such an ability was a burden to have, particularly if you had no control over when it kicked in. But this seemed more than that to the Twilight King. Could it be that the NightWing was ashamed of his power? Baldirak was about to speak when another voice spoke up.

"A Seer? I didn't know the Tuls had such a Birth Title." The voice came from Bain. He and the rest of the ElderWings had been sitting just within earshot of the gathered Mainlanders. Now they approached to greet them. Led by Siris, the ElderWings bowed then introduced themselves from youngest to oldest.

"Greetings, Ilos Baldirak. I'm Nyetai."

"Greetings, Ilos Baldirak. I'm Henri."

"I'm Ullie."

"I'm Mae."

"Bain the Seer, Baldirak Ilos."

"You know ol' Durval already, lad." The GateKeeper received a look from Siris for not making a formal greeting. Yes, Baldirak knew him and Siris, but the rest of the Mainlanders did not, hence the formality. Durval scratched his side and added, "I mean, Baldirak Ilos."

"And you know me as well, but for the rest of your Tul, I am Siris, Ilos of the ElderWings." The others finally came out of their bow and sat. "At your earlier request, we are here to aid in the reclamation of the Mainlands. We shall help with whatever you need, even the Hatchlings, Henri and Nyetai."

The Twilight King rose and bowed to the ElderWings. When they Siris finished speaking, Baldirak replied, "We are honored to have you here, Siris and welcome your help with open claws. You and I may decide how best to form the groups for the various tasks before us. But first..." Baldirak turned his pale gaze back to the NightWing. "To answer your question, Malaki, yes. I fully intend for the LightWings to join us. They are allied with the SkyWings, after all. I am aware of the animosity between the LightWings and NightWings. It is the same with FireWings and IceWings. But in these times we can afford such divisions no longer. We must all unite to survive. When we have prevailed, you may go back to being at odds with them."

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by malaki on Sun Mar 11, 2018 6:41 pm

Malaki darted his head around after hearing the voice of the new arrivals. Letting instinct and gravity take hold he dropped belly first to the ground on all fours and let his wings droop, taking a low profile as if hiding in the grass. But with the sun up even more then before there were no shadows, or even grass for that matter for the night wing to hide in.

These dragons were coming in from all directions and they were of no tribe he had read of in any book growing up back in the night wing capital. Malaki chose silence and simply listened and watched. One after the other they introduced themselves.  Tuls, Ilos, these were words from a language he did not understand. Watching history in the making was one thing, being trapped in the middle of the storm was a another.

Thousands upon thousands of futures he could see. None were set in stone, the slightest choice, no matter how small effecting the outcome. Like overlapping threads in a giant tapestry on a wall, all were connected and just as impossible to trance while it was still mixed in with all the other thousands of other threads that made the design.

With the king distracted the night wing started to creep away like a giant predatory cat would but stopped as he heard the king address him. Feeling eyes on him again there was no use keeping low, so he stood up fully on all fours and looked over his shoulders back towards the king. Malaki did not answer right away as he re evaluated the king and the events before. 'He must know, maybe he can help me'. Malaki thought.

He attempted to choose his words carefully, but instead the night wing chose to skip the song and dance and spoke bluntly. "Saying it is one thing, doing it is another. Old hatreds run deep, even though not all of us have hatred." Shaking his head now in some sort of silent dilemma Malaki thought about how he could test the king if he was a clairvoyant like him. He wanted to say more but with so many present the night wings words fell off his tongue like a whisper in the breeze, unheard.

How could he explain about his difficulty? How could he say out loud that he had a hard time holding onto reality with all the visions? He just spoke true and honest. In the end he thought of a subtle way to tell the king what he was if the king was like him, he would understand.

"I cant tell what is real and what is not anymore", was all he was able to say lowly. "When we sleep is that the reality? Or when we are awake is that the dream?" With no more courage to linger in this giant event anymore Malaki gave in to his instincts and fled, or attempted to.

Tormaigh, Typhoon, and Cyclone all looked surprised as the new dragons walked up and introduced themselves. While the twins simply thought the new dragons were normal, but Tormaigh could test something was different about the. He didn’t recognize what tribe they were from, which worried the thunderbird. Once the various dragons had introduced themselves, Cyclone lifted her paw, and waved towards the othe hatchlings, Nyerai and Henri.

As the pair did this, Tormaigh approached Tulvir. He did his best to stay respectful, but could not help but ask the hybrid what his thoughts were on the newcomers.

Re: A Call to Arms (Twilight Imperium)

Post by Vilkas on Tue Apr 03, 2018 6:30 pm

This was the first time Vilkas had met the ElderWings. He had accompanied his uncle to their island a few times but never gone beyond the beach. Their appearances were quite peculiar, as was their dialect. But then, they were isolated from the rest of Dragonkind, unchanged since their beginning. As the leader spoke, VIlkas looked around at his fellow tribemates, looking at their reactions to the ElderWings.

Tulvir looked down as Tormaigh made his way over and inquired about his opinion of the new arrivals. "I believe the Queen visited their island once. I've never seen them myself. I think they've visited since their island was discovered a year or so ago. I don't think they ever got to the FireWing lands. Some say we're descended from them. Judging by how they look, i guess it's possible. Who knows?" Tulvir answered in a hushed tone.

Baldirak took note of the FireWing that approached and bowed.  Malaki's words were somewhat true. The King still hated humans. But at least he had a reason. To him, it seemed NightWings and LightWings hated each other simply because they were opposites in nature. Like the FireWings and IceWings. Baldi said nothing of Malaki's questions. He had no time to ponder them at the moment.

Nyetai and Henri wandered over to Typhoon and Cyclone. "Hi there!" Henri said, "I'm Henri and this is Nyetai."
